Construction Specific - PSCSJust a quick summary with regard to the roles of the client and PSCS (Project Supervisor Construction Stage).

The client is required to appoint a PSCS for virtually all construction projects (there are some exceptions that don't often occur) . This appointment should be made before construction commences.

Where the project is notifiable, the PSCS must notify the HSA before the commencement of the construction process, in the AF2 form.

The PSCS is responsible for ensuring that work on site is carried out safely. They must develop the safety and health plan for the construction stage (where one is required), which outlines the safe working procedures to be employed on site and they must update this as necessary while the project is ongoing.

The PSCS will carry out inspections on site to satisfy themselves that works are being carried out in a safe manner.

At the end of the job the PSCS will help to gather information for the PSDP to allow them to compile the Safety File.

Assist Safety Ltd can take on the role of PSCS or of PSCS Safety Coordinator (where we help our client carry out the role of PSCS without actually taking on the role ourselves).
